An update on the Boost Nomination Program, and what’s next

When we launched the Boost Nomination Program, we wanted to work with those closest to the writing on Medium: publication editors. We partnered with a small group of editors in a limited capacity to help us find and develop stories that could be Boosted. We learned a lot from working closely with those editors, and we appreciated their contributions.
However, as time went on, we found the program couldn’t scale, and it limited the kinds of stories we could reward editors for, so we’ll be closing the Boost Nomination Program on May 31st, 2026.
What’s next?
We learned so much from the editors in the Boost Nomination Program — especially that we gain a lot when we work closely with Medium editors. We want to be much more expansive in how we reward editors for the work they do to develop writers and stories, elevate stories to their communities, and how well they understand their publication’s readership here.
That’s why we’re excited to launch the Editor Partner Program we announced earlier this week. This new program will reward qualifying editors for all stories they work on, regardless of whether or not they meet Boost criteria. We’re looking forward to learning more from our early participants, and expanding the program in July to bring in more eligible publications.
